Logos Argument

For this blog I chose a picture of a billboard in Iowa. The billboard shows an electrical cord plugged into a piece of coal. The words on the ad say "You're looking at 50%( the 50 is crossed out) 78% of our electricity." They are talking about how they are using clean coal to power most of the power needs Iowa has.

I think this an example of logos in how it has a statistic in the ad. Also the lower percent is crossed out leaving the greater one. It is only logical that a person would appreciate the higher number being used for clean electricity. As we had talked about on Tuesday I feel this overlaps with pathos in how it is using clean energy and that is a big emotional push right now to help our environment. It is just interesting that such a simple sign can have so much depth.

That's an interesting billboard. Showing the smaller number crossed out definitely helps the argument to be stronger. But is this statistic truthful? That would be interesting to find out as it could be being misused by the creators to make people feel like we are making a push to help the environment.
